There are multiple automated ways to fund debit cards issued on the Hydrogen platform:

• Payroll Direct Deposit
• ACH Pull

These two automated features are included in the Hydrogen no-code applications and in the Hydrogen pricing. They will satisfy the majority of instances when cardholders want to load their cards.

There will be situations where a cardholder either (a) doesn't have access to payroll (e.g. they are an independent contractor); (b) doesn't have a U.S. bank account; or (c) prefers to deposit cash directly onto their debit card for immediate spending. In these situations, the cardholder can walk into a CVS, Walgreens, or Dollar General anywhere in the U.S., and hand the cashier their card. They can deposit cash onto the card directly at the register!

Please note, this service comes with a fee, charged to the cardholder at the register. If you have ever bought a gift card at a drugstore, you are familiar with this fee. Please see your cardholder agreement for the latest fee amount. Hydrogen does not take any portion of this fee; we are merely passing it onto the cardholder, per our legal obligations with our financial partners.
